Columbus Day of Play

Today the weather here was Central PA was absolutely ahhhh-mazing!!!  So of course we HAD to take advantage of our Columbus Day off school~~  Which is exactly what we did by heading to Ashcombe's a local flower shop/fall pumpkin provider/gift shop/cafe~~~ basically this place has TONS of cool stuff for kids and adults alike~~ check it out if you haven't been there already!  http://www.ashcombe.com//
Flickinger's & the Fry's -- Adrien does look like he's ready for a Memorable day?!

Getting a close look at the Koi pond~

*So we had planned on meeting up with the Fry Family and my kids were SUPER excited.  The playdate started off great...as you see from the pictures.  Then as were all gathered around the Koi Pond and giving out NUMEROUS warnings, "DON'T get to close & DON'T fall in!"  Yes, I'm sure you know what I'm going to say next-- one of the kids FELL in...o.k. well, it was Adrien....he didn't just slip, oh no, his entire body went in. Both sneakers went straight to bottom and he was waist DEEP in the pond in 2 seconds-- soaked to the bone!  I was speechless-- We were just seconds away from heading over to kids fun field to play in the hay, corn sandbox, haunted maze, and wagon ride.
Right after Adrien was waist deep in the Koi pond~~ if you look close he's completely soaked!

Welllll, I 1st HAD to take a picture, and then go to my car to search for something for Adrien to change into. Or drive back home which would have taken at least a 1/2 hour to get back and probably ruined the playdate for Adrien.  Alas, I had a pair of my drawstring cargo pants and dry socks, plus a towel from our daily summer trips to the pool--->see hubs, sometimes it pays not to clean out the car!  The playdate was a BLAST and definitely one we won't soon forget!  Fiona keeps sharing this story with anyone who will listen to her and she also has reminded Adrien at least 20 times, "You fell in the FISH pond!"

Carving out a little quality Fall Family Time

So the Flickinger's absolutely LOVE this time of year because here in Central Pennsylvania there are so many Family fun activities/festivals/pumpkin events.  This past weekend was the Shermans Valley Heritage Festival & the Pennsboro Pumpkin festival.  The weather was FINALLY not raining & unseasonably warm so we couldn't resist partaking in the fun at BOTH festivals!
Nothing beats Lunch by the Shermans Valley Creek~  only $6.50 = Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!

Adrien & Fiona can't turn down a free tractor ride upon arrival!
Watchin' Apples pressed turn into CIDER=Tasty!

The Shermans Valley festival was SO busy that we had to park on the other side of Blain to get to the festival, but Fiona DIDN'T mind her Favorite part of the whole day was riding on the school bus! It was really  great to bump into Mema, Papa, & Great Aunt Ellie--- Thanks so much for treating us to all the yummy goodness- Pumpkin funnel cakes, banana split (w/marshmallow,hot fudge, and pb sauce), and our first time trying creamsicle whoopie pies~ definitely different, but I wasn't complaining, just noshing!

~We LOOOOOVE pumpkins --- East Pensboro Pumpkin Festival~

*Adrien and Fiona painted glass tiles to go in the new Pennsboro community center~~ Art = Love~
~The Pumpkin fest was SO hot...and the day just sweated right by but I did manage to score the cute vintage Art deco earrings from Justin~~ so sweet he's not a big jewelry giver so it really made my day!  Thanks hubs~

We have been trying to enjoy this beautiful season as much as we can, & getting in the spirit by carving our pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns.
Fiona and Adrien said the pumpkin innards felt like cow guts but they did a really good job of cleaning out their pumkin and designing the faces by themselves~

So happy to have daddy's attention and company when carving pumpkins this year~  I must admit I was impressed by how Justin's "heart in my hands" pumpkin turned out~ I added the heart as a cute touch!

*Fiona's pumpkin is sticking out it's tongue she said, "My pumpkin is going to make you LAUGH!"
*Adrien's scarey vampire pumpkin~~ it reminds me of Metaknight from the Kirby video game.
*Justin & I created the "loving hands" pumpkin~
--today I carved the princess design I thought Fiona wanted but she boldly said, "No, that's not MY design"
In case you can't tell this is supposed to be Princess Peach from the Super Mario Bros.

Happy Halloween!

Gotta start sometime right?!

Hello Friends~~
I've talked about starting a family blog for some time now and this weekend my son asked if we could "ACTUALLY" do it!  So here it is and I'm sure it will continue to evolve as we get more advanced in our posts and the design will be tweaked, as well!  But it's better that I'm actually posting instead of just discussing it and never actually adding to it, right?!  Anyway I'm sure you'll see as time goes on that it will lean more in the direction of a virtual photo album and mini family updates~~ have fun browsing along and if you'd like feel free to sign up and follow or even 'gasp' LEAVE a comment!
