sail away with me~

~Master Flick was our "crusie director" for they day and he found this really cool event just by searching through the local new/website:   http://www.pennlive.com/   under events!!  I always have friends ask me, "How do you FIND these events?!"  NOW you know~  SO if your looking for a cool way to spend your day JUST spend a few minutes researching on the web & you never know what you'll find!

Family Fun Friday @ Harrisburg City Island Water Golf

This week's Family Fun Friday was with some old friends and some new friends!  We walked across the walking bridge, then some friends got on a boat ride, "Ride the Pride," while we went to City Island Water Golf.  Adrien golfed with his new friend, Amelia and they were gamely competitive, but Adrien one by 5 strokes!  Amelia's little brother, Wellington seemed mildly amused by his sister & the heat--he is such an easy-going and social little baby!  Fiona golfed with her friend Delaney and they had a BLAST, "DOING IT BY MYSELF!" all 18 holes!  Some of the "Family Fun Fridays" group also rode the little red train around the island as well!  The entire day was VERY humid but still a lot of FUN!

Last week we decided to make the 40 minute drive to Perry County to visit my sister's children & spend the day swimming @ the Little Buffalo POOL!!  It's $6 per person to swim ALL day from 11-7, but if you don't want to pay there are lots of cool hiking/walking trails and boat rentals at the park!  Check it out for a nice summer day trip:  http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/littlebuffalo/
They also have some great events and festivals ALL year round--- just check out the Little Buffalo events~

Thursday Thai & Giggles!

Tonight we made it back to Carlisle for some YUMMY Thai food from Amy's Thai.  I must say I was surprised that BOTH of my children were really open-minded and tried LOTS of different Thai dishes!  Adrien even tried some spicy squid, quickly followed by some rice of course, but he DID try it none the less.
Then after dinner we walked over the Old Carlisle Library aka Bosler Library for their summer reading event, "Flow Circus."  Our town library hosted, "Flow Circus" the day before and I couldn't ignore the buzz about ENTERTAINING it was.  I called earlier in the day to make sure there would be seats for us! ~~~Boy am I glad we did because, Justin even became a PART of the show, by no choice of his own that's for sure- but he was a good sport and played along!  Adrien was also an audience volunteer!  The Bosler (Carlisle Public) Library is connected to the Cumberland County Library System so you don't need to join...your card will work there & you can return book there too!  This library is undergoing an expansion and some MAJOR renovations which will be another excuse to make a trip to CARLISLE soon!

First FRIDAY Family FUN day in Carlisle, PA~

A day at Laurel Lake~ with a side of Frys!
Just looking at these pictures makes me HOT!  It was definitely a good day to take a dip or DUNK into Laurel Lake at Pine Grove Furnace State Park for this week's Family Fun Friday!
For more info about this state park just click the LINK:
Thanks You Kelli for inviting us to create memories and IGNORE the heat for a few hours~~ the lake was so refreshing as was your company!  Happy to say we did get some sun but NO sun burn!
On our way home from the Lake we decided to swing into downtown Carlisle for the History Themed First Friday in JULY!  I was exhausted but knew it would be fun for the whole family... 'Mama Lu' knows best~ because there was No way we would have made it back in time for ALL the fun and interesting "History" themed activites we had the chance to partake in as we walked around adorable Carlisle!
I was surprised at how much Adrien ENJOYED learning about the Civil War history of Carlisle as he and Master Flick went on walking tour around town. We also had the chance to create some art at the CALC where Adrien was interviewed by, "The Sentinel" newpaper and had his picture taken!  Just CLICK the LINK below to read his article and see the pictures:
For more info about the Carlisle Arts Learning Center check out their website & follow them on Facebook, just click the link below:
Of course Carlisle is known for the CAR SHOWS so, Adrien  LOVED seeing some cool cars around town while also seeing the classic fire engines!  I LOVED checking out all of the little cafes, boutiques, and restuarants around town but by the time we were done a lot of them were closed or closing up~ Next time, we will do an early dinner downtown for SURE!
We decided to go the the independent and faithful "George's PIZZA."  The walls are LINED with family and local photos from the years gone by, & the KIDS thought it was so cool to chose songs from a real  WURLITZER juke box...Sugar Sugar for Fiona and the Coca cola Kid for Adrien--- I couldn't resist dancing in the Aisle with Fiona & Adrien while our pizza cooled down! Justin was chowing down on the mild "SPICY" hot wings he ordered...YUM~

What an exhausting and exciting day!  I can't wait for 1st Friday in August 3~~~ it's theme is, 'Kid's NIGHT OUT!'

LIKE them on Facebook-to stay in the LOOP!!

Way to go Master Flick & Adrien
