Parkin' - Tubin' - Hikin'

Inviting Adirondacks @ Colonel Denning State Park

Hershey Park HAPPPPY!
Hershey Park MAD-- RIDE the SkyRush?
Gassssp....it looks like it is super HIGH and FAST~ I think I've changed my mind!  I'm SO NOT sure, AS we are about to ride the Skyrush 75 MPH ROLLER COASTER!
Hershey PARK GLAD!  Fiona is FINALLY able to DRIVE all by herself, she was just a Lil'bit excited!
We also managed to finally choose a good day for Tubing on the Yellow Breeches to take along our birdies too~
Adrien and Fiona HAD so much fun...especially at the ROPE swing, PROUD of Adrien for having to courage to try it!  Here is a little video footage of him swinging...sorry it's not the best quality~

Justin & I had the chance to sneak some time away and we were FINALLY able to hike the Flat Rock Trail @ Colonel Denning State park just outside Newville, PA.

This is about a 5 mile trail with about an 80% incline, definitely not an EASY hike but well worth the sweat and energy if/when you make it all the way UP to the Flat Rock VISTA!  Plus then you just have to hike 2 and half miles back down.
This is a gorgeous state park and it has NEVER been busy or even remotely crowded when we've gone here to hike...they do have an adorable little beach, picnic grounds, and campsites.  The park is very well maintained and clean but sometimes the swimming area is closed off because of dangerous bacteria levels in the water...but since ALL I wanted to do was sit with my toes in the sand and relax on the adorable Adirondack chairs it was all GOOD! http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/coloneldenning/index.htm

They host lots of different events this Saturday night there will be LIVE swing music...
you just need to check the calendar events on the website:

weekend snaps!!

Hi All...hope you had a good weekend despite the crazy HUMIDITY!
Just wanted to share a quick glimpse of our weekend activities!  Enjoying delicious chicken BBQ from Lili's Place on Pomfret Street in Carlisle.  We actually go to meet Lili, "the food Goddess!"  Our whole family couldn't get enough of her pulled chicken bbq sliders! Her cafe is quaint and adorable on a really great side street in Carlisle...  I think the next time I get some "ME" time I know where to go for lunch.

We finally managed to "EAT our way around town while partaking in ALL of the Fun First Friday Festivities!!! My personal favorite was the banana and Nutella crepes from Helena's cafe and crepery--- Surprisingly my little birdies LOVED the homemade GELATTO (pictured at the top of this page!)  They BOTH got a scoop of Amaretto Gelatto!  If your looking for a cute dessert cafe THIS is the place to go!

LoveCarlisle was hosting "Kid's Night 1st Friday" so we had the chance to do EVEN more fun stuff walking all over the gorgeous "foot friendly" town!  There was a lot of free giveaways for the kiddos to collect and games to play along the way.  We even got to paint a MINIVAN (it doesn't get more family than a minivan right?!)  Plus, we bumped into our friends the Fry family & painted together!  Talk about a really cool idea...they just used washable paint--- the kids were allowed to paint whatever & where ever they wanted to on the van...the END RESULT was FABULOUS!
There were musical fairies at the Bosler Library....so of course we LOVED being "dancey" pretending we were on a 'fairy magic carpet ride,' with the exception of Adrien....it was goofy FUN!  (BUT Adrien was having NONE of it, I even tried to barter Adrien into dancing...but he FIRMLY declined- which was a 1st; but I'm sure it won't be the last.)

Then we walked over to the vintage inspired candy shop-Georgie Lou's.  Posie, the fairy was doing FABULOUS face painting in front of Georgie Lou's and then the kids had a BLAST shopping around the candy shop...they each picked out a PEZ machine...Fiona chose Strawberry Shortcake and Adrien picked out Ferb from Phineas & Ferb!  If your looking for some cool gifts and unique candy make sure to check out Georgie Lou's!

To End our weekend, Fiona & I went to Fort Hunter for their Sunset Series...this week instead of LIVE music they were showing the Muppets Movie.  It was a really fun GIRLS Night Out together since the boys went to the Newville Drive-In (they were showing Diary of a Wimpy Kid & Dark Knight.)  It was nice that Fort Hunter decieded to set-up the movie inside this 100+ yr old barn, since it did rain hard at some point during the movie!
Check out the upcoming events at Fort Hunter before it's too cold!

drum roll please....the big tween room reveal

So after all the hard work I'm DONE!  Adrien had NO idea I was going to change his bedroom around or paint when he left for the beach this past week....so when he walked into his bedroom he said it felt like "EXTREME Bedroom Makover!"  He seems to like hanging out in his room, but he did ask me if under the blue paint were the zebras that had previously adorned his walls and kept him company all the days of his YOUTH.  I told him YES...they are still there, you just can't see them and he smiled!
Ahhhhh, how I LOVE that kid!  He is growing up and I wish I could JUST HIT THE PAUSE button for a little while...I think his room is going to grow with him now!

~Lady Liberty's Silhouette on Adrien's new curtains~

So exhausted I could sleep for 3 days!
