Philly~ City of "Sisterly-LOVE"

Strolling along Fairmont Park with Aunt Kasandra in Philly!

We had to go to Philadelphia for the day because my husband had a meeting so we decided to make a 'Flickinger Family' Day trip!!! It was so nice to have the chance to check out the city & also a chance to meet up with my two sisters, Kasandra Jane & Constance Lynn.  Kasandra's apartment building was coincidentally across the street from my husband's meeting location~~ too funny right?!  So when he was at the meeting we got the chance to see her college apartment before she graduates this year from St.Joe's University.  <---So Proud of her & all her hard-won academic SUCCESS!

I must apologize in advance for my mediocre picture snapshot quality due to my own absent-mindedness, ughhh, I forgot my camera!!!  Oh well, in my opinion any picture is better than no picture, right!!!

In front of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway!

Then we decided to venture over to the Institute of Contemporary Art Museum on the Penn College Campus for some art & to watch Performance Art at the Museum...I didn't take any pictures inside the museum except this one in the bathroom!!!  The performance piece turned out to be VERY different than anything we could have possibly expected.  It was two artist dressed in black "SCREAMING" into black fabric pieces hanging on the wall.  The title was 'Screamed from LIFE' and they were reading really sad news articles where people died in obscure ways.  Like one man died from getting kicked in the head by his goat.  The funny thing way that the acoustics of the museum made it hard to hear exactly what they were actually saying.  It was almost as interesting to observe all of the other "working artist type" people that came to observe this 'show.'  I was glad we went to widen my son's horizontal view of Art; but I'm sure it's not something he will forget anytime soon.  The Museum was free, but we still made a small donation for our 1/2 hour visit!  It was really cool to check out and introduce our son to a COMPLETELY different approach and perception towards the definition he had in his mind about "ART!"

Then we hopped over towards Rittenhouse Square to meet up with my sister, Connie & her boyfriend Tyler for some city shopping and a bite to eat at Qdoba~ YUM!  Of course, Fiona slept through the whole meal.

After our brief but sweet visit with Connie...Fiona was ready to Go, Go, GO!!! So we decided to head over to the Franklin Square Park which we had read was voted one of the top 5 parks in the country!

We were able to find street metered parking about 2 blocks away and then the kids were able to ride their scooters to the park and back!  It was a cold day but of course the kids didn't mind and they were happy to get the chance to motor around the city!  The Park is gorgeous with a Carousel, Mini Golf, 100+ year old foutain, and of course a cool playground!  It was a great way to end the day before our car trip back home!

Justin was SO cold he decided to wear Fiona's hat she didn't want to wear!

Nothing but LOVE for the CITY known for it~~~
WE can't wait to go back again!
