Sizzling in C-town... LOVE Carlisle!

We had the pleasure of enjoying our Friday evening in Carlisle, PA---- this neighboring town (to Mechanicsburg, PA) is quickly becoming one of our FAVORITE destinations!  We love the energy and atmosphere from town, local businesses, and Dickinson College.  Carlisle kicked off their 1st Friday of the Spring/Summer of 2012.

The evening started out perfect but the lingereing rain in the forcast was palpable---it's been raining buckets lately!! However, we didn't let that stop us from enjoying a very FUN & memorable evening in downtown Carlisle.  We started out the night at The Trout Gallery where the kids had the chance to partake in viewing and creating Balinese Art.

Then we walked up High Street & listened to some live music at several different downtown stops around town.  We stopped at the Wellness Center and had a smoothie but that was the reason we got CAUGHT in a HUGE downpour on our way back to Dickinson College to watch the Movie Wallace&Grommit~~ it was originally scheduled to be shown outdoors on the lawn but they moved it inside due to the rain.  All in all it turned out to be a VERY SOGGY but very FUN FIRST Friday in Carlisle!

If you want to mark the NEXT First Friday on your calendar it's JUNE 1, 2012--- or check out the links for other events & more info on the places in the pictures below!

We had so much fun checking out Carlisle on Friday we ventured back in the same direction on Saturday for our mini-date!  We decide instead of hiking to check out the Army Heritage Center.  Then we made a stop at Leo's Ice Cream, where we tried Cornbread Ice Cream....made with real cornbread batter---the texture was--- definitely corny!  But we decide to share some Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream for a snack----YUMMY!

Then we ended the evening with a Family Campfire & TONS O'Hijinks!!  I think we were all crazy from Saturdays SUNSHINE & HEAT!--- Fiona even convinced me to fill her wading pool so her her new Mermaid Barbie could "swim."
